Running in Water The Wild Rivers 5 K

August 27th

After about 3 hours of sleep the night before I got up and headed down to Wild Rivers for a fun 5K where I wasn't going to worry to much about my final time.  (because there was a section of the run that went through water).     There was also a few missed picture ops  (since I was running through water I didn't take the camera).   A guy in a dog costume that represented some running shoe company (that kicked every one's butt).  And a guy in a Cow outfit (OMG how could he even  Mooooove).     There was also a guy in a Mexican Wrestler outfit.     The run apparently supported some program for deaf kids in Mexico (go figure)  since before the race some deaf minister from Mexico got up to do a short sermon that no one could understand that had bad jokes and where he thanked  Wild Water?   There was also an interesting botched National Anthem by some church singer.

The race itself was okay.    I was around  14.25 at my 2 mile split on a course that mostly was outside the park on a hot and humid morning....  Then we got to run in the floatie river.  After spending most of the second mile being passed by people I was able to surge back ahead of some folks in the water portion of the course....Although once I excited I learned a good lesson if I every do this run again......WHERE swimtrunks..    When I exited the water portio completed soaked from head to toe  I had to hold my shorts up for the final 400 yards of the race.  (an interesting running style indeed).   The water portion added several minutes to my time.  Still it was a fun run.
