I ran 1 mile on the street for my 41st birthday just to see what my time would be. I haven't run a mile for time in who knows how many years. When I started running again a few years back the goal was 5 K's. Which I have chronicled in this blog. It was a difficult journey back. Along that journey I went from running 5k's very slowly and decreasing my time quite a bit as I improved. Then I tackled increasing my distances and running further, eventually running 13.1 miles on a dare. Well I figured for a new challenge I would find out how much slower I was at age 41 when compared to back in my hey day. So I mapped out a mile street course and timed it. The result 6 minutes and 17 seconds. It wasn't what I was hoping for which was 6 minutes----but still pretty good considering where HE FAT started on this journey when I was struggling to run a mile in 10 minutes, but still no where close to the 4:36 best time I had in high school. I guess it gives me a time to shoot for by age 42. 6 Minutes you are my new goal. I'll try again in a couple of weeks and do it on the track and see where I'm at.
