5 K number 11 June 4th 2011 Corona's Revenge.......The 3rd Mile dilemma

The scene of probably my worst run a couple of years ago which I will post about coming up next....The last time I ran this it was my 3rd 5K back and I was still HE FAT and also HE SICK --but I ran it anyway.......That one I as just trying to survive....This one I had higher hopes for.....Especially since I have been running further distances since Seal Beach 2011 5K...  I was aiming and hoping to get around  22 minutes.

One probably that I'm worried about now is that I may be starting to take it a little to seriously....I didn't bring my I-pod today so my brain had much more time to think about all the pre race annoying things......Like the idiot with the double stroller that lined up at the front of the race until luckily they made him move......Duh of course that is unsafe......I hate when Walkers or really slow people line up at the front.....(I was aware when I ran my first one to line up near the proper area to start the race)    Some people are just clueless......

And some people are just plain rude..Like all the people that just crowd into the front at the last minute when others have been standing there for 10 -15 minutes already.....Crowding in like some annoying family before a parade at Disneyland.....Anyway enough complaining....On to the Race .   Corona's Revenge...a race with a view

I felt like I was going out slow  because a lot of people were passing me the first mile...Without my I-pod I was thinking way too much
 1.   about how I woke up early feeling like I was coming down with a cold
2 About how I was feeling tired and what if I just ended up walking despite running it for a time.
3. How I don't remember it being this hilly??
(I took a picture of this house after the race....What a view of the ocean this mansion had...I want this house)

So mile 1 rolls around and I'm shocked that my time was   6:56 or something    A sub 7 mile..  So I tried to just stay with the group I was with....Struggling on the minor inclines and trying to let it fly on the declines......I was getting really tired by mile 2  but my time was 13:52 or  Something  --so I was on pace for around 21 minutes which is my goal by my 41st birthday......

Then came the last mile which was a killer....No longer could I  LET IT FLY on the downhill and the struggle up a couple of inclines just took it out of me......I was tired by the end and ended up right around the same time as Seal Beach ....   I think my final time was around  22:38 or something (Waiting for final results to be posted)---2 Seconds faster than Seal .    The disappointing part was at  the end of Seal I felt like I hadn't pushed myself hard enough and didn't leave it all on the course......Corona's Revenge  -- I was just  tired at the end....

I really need to work on that 3rd mile  (Or maybe pick a flatter course next time)
