When I was starting out and battling my own thoughts on and weight on my runs. So many days wanting to choose the couch and the remote control over running-- I finally decided to abandon the run altogether for awhile in favor of the pool. The pool is much kinder to the body. It puts a lot less stress on the joints and it is easier to carry the HE FAT across the pool (HE Floats by the way) then to lug the out of shape body around the neighborhood on a pair of Running shoes. I would eventually get back to the run, but I found myself much more willing to jump in the pool at the end of a day of work on days that I probably wouldn't have run.
Advantages of hitting he pool.....
1. Less stress on the body
2. Less wandering thoughts---I found that I was busy breathing and counting my laps so my mind didn't have as much free reign to try and work against me.
3. The pool feels so good.. and I don't feel like a sweaty fool at the end of a swim.

ReplyDeleteI was totally saying that the other day....Why hasn't someone come out with Swimming I-pod.........Then of course quickly found out that someone already had...
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I could handle them though....I feel like I'm always stopping to adjust my swim goggles as it is.....Those things look so bulky it reminds me of the gear you used to have to wear to play Laser Tag.
